Winter 2017 Dates

When can we expect the Winter 2017 series to start?
For some reasons I thought December but now I see "Entries will close on September 30th".
Just for a rough planning.... :-)

Sorry about the really slow reply, the short answer is that we do not have a definitive set of dates yet :(

As we are intending to introduce a new class of robots which are quite different to the existing YetiBorgs and MonsterBorgs we think there will need to be some rule changes, plus the hardware and data available will be somewhat different from the Monster class.

We are still hoping to start testing rounds sometime in October, but we will probably have more time for the pre-racing test sessions than last season. As a result the actual racing will not start before November, but it may start as late as December depending on how early we can get the new robots and rules finalised.

What we want to do is make sure people have enough time to understand the new rules and what the new robots can and cannot do before being thrust into the racing. The Monster class will probably keep the same rules as last time for those who wish to refine their performance or get started with Formula Pi.

I would plan for testing to start in early October and the racing to start sometime in November at this point.

For now we will leave the entry closing date as-is, but we might extend it slightly if the racing will not start until December.

In case you missed the announcement the first testing session will be on the 8th of November with the first submission deadline on the 6th (full dates list here). We will be accepting entries up to the 31st of October.

The main reason the dates took so long to organise is because we will be a part of the team running RaceYourCode and needed to make sure that we did not have both race events happening on the same dates.

I think we are going to be very busy for the next few months :)
